Cons: UTTER CHAOS!!!! SAFETY FIRST!!! Kids running every where. No organization! The high school teachers need educating on how to set up their classes. I have coached gymnastics almost all my life and this gym is just out of control. Check out JET gymnastics for organization skills. I get frustrated every time I go in there.

Pros: Kids love it. The teachers show potential and are good with the kids.

Do not book your birthday party with the 5280 South Gym. We booked my daughter’s 6th birthday party here on February 11th, after it taking almost 2 weeks to contact people and get the right information of how to book. They didn’t answer the phones during business hours, and took a while to get back to me when leaving a message. I over looked that and went into the South Gym 2/11/17 and paid a $65 cash deposit and filled out a form for her party on March 5th and 3pm.

The days before the party we tried contacting just to confirm and ask a couple last minute questions, and could not get a hold of anyone. On Sunday, March 5th we showed up at the gym at 2:35 to set up for the party at 3. The doors were locked, and no cars where in the lot. No one was in the gym to open it or supervise the party for us. We tried calling them and were even calling the North Gym to find someone who could help us figure out what was happening. No one would answer or call back. We had to re-route all the friends and family to a nearby park. Despite the winds and the kids being cold because they were dressed for an indoor gymnastics party, the kids played and had fun.

However, I have left messages each day, called during business hours, and no one has called me back to explain or rectify what in the world happened. It is now Tuesday, and since Sunday we have not heard anything from them. I have also filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, but did not want any parent to have to go through the same situation. Having a kid tour the party location, then get excited for a month to have a gymnastics party, only to have it be cancelled while we are at the location, was not a fun birthday surprise. I get that mistakes are made, but find it utterly incompetent and disrespectful that a service I paid for has not been given, and no one has had the decency to call me back about it.

Waste of money for summer camp. They say it’s a gymnastics summer camp, but then don’t let them do any gymnastics, except for maybe 1 hour a day. For the $$$$, there is no value in sending your kids here. (sigh)

This is an ELITE (USAG) Gymnastics gym for both boys and girls! 5280 has some of the best athletes in Denver, that being said, this gym is tough. But worth it!!
My son has been at this gym for over 6 years now, and his coaches are amazing!
For the little ones just coming in to 5280 South, please hang in there, the start is a little shaky, but you will be an amazing athlete if you stay!
This place isn’t a great place for a party if your little one isn’t already a gymnast!! SAFETY is a big concern.

Great place, fun at all levels. Lovely management and instructors. Lydia has instructed our daughter for the past year and has done exceptional work with her kids.

Coach D went out of her way to make my granddaughters’s birthday party perfect. Before we arrived she set up an age appropriate ninja course for the guests. Then, when we got there to decorate the party room she took the time to show her the course and to walk her through it several times so she knew what to expect and could show her friends. Once the guests arrived she made sure everyone was having fun and moved the party through the three areas she had set up . It was nonstop fun and even though we had 18 five and six year olds she kept them moving and under control the whole time.
What a great place for a party.
    Thank you Coach D

My 6 yr old daughter started classes here in Fall ’18 and with the excellent coaching from Ms. Lydia and Ms. Amanda has progressed rapidly. She loves it and looks forward to going every time! We couldn’t be happier.

The equipment and facility are so fun! There is a ninja course complete with salmon ladder, wall pegs, cargo net etc. The foam pit runs the length of the gym on the side and there are 2 different trampolines. There is a quiet room to observe classes where kids cannot readily see in, and the lobby was redone and much cleaner! Open gym and birthday parties are fun even if you’re not enrolled in classes. I don’t have kids who take classes here so I’m not certain how I’d rate those. Try it out!

Went for a birthday party and was so impressed. The staff (Jennie) was amazing, set up an obstacle course that was age appropriate for all participants (ages 2-10) and was very engaging. My daughter loved the foam pit as well as the trampolines. The Ninja area was also awesome and a favorite for sure. Everything was clean including the bathrooms which is important with a toddler. Very inclusive, intentional and FUN! Highly recommend!!

The owner singled out my son, bullied him and ostracized him for absolutely nothing. He’s only 5. Do not take your kids here.

The South gym has equipment and coaching issues which was brought to the owner’s attention. Instead of replacing the equipment and fixing the issues, she decided to just end the team boys/girls program. Apparently, she will keep the Xcel program, Rec and Ninja because they make more $$. The floor has many dead spots and the floor to ceiling windows are not tempered glass. The windows let in bright sunlight which has caused issues with tumbling on floor and vault. There are no coverings over them and floor is right next to the windows. Many of the kids have been at the gym for 6+ years so it’s been devastating to them.

The kids were offered a 1.5 hour try-out at North gym only to be told to join their Xcel program (which is a disgrace for girls who have always trained DP and are Optionals). They only accepted 3 girls for their DP team of whom 2 of them were employee’s girls. They already knew who they were taking before the try-outs and just had try-outs to say that they offered them. Beth doesn’t care about the gym as she has another business (this one was her husband’s dream, not hers, and since he’s gone she has let it fall apart). You will only see her in the gym when 5280 holds a meet.
    Equipment is not safe!

Such a great gym! My son is loving his boys gymnastics class and the coach is fantastic. He has already made so much progress and loves going.

I wanted to reach out regarding our experience at 5280 during my son’s ninja class session on Tuesday the 29th. Unfortunately, it was far from what I expected in terms of organization and, more importantly, safety. And since no one reached out except to see if we were returning to join their program with an automated email, I thought I should share here.

When we arrived, there was no one to greet us, show us where to go, or provide any direction. After waiting with no guidance, I eventually had to walk into the gymnastics area just to find someone who could tell us where to be. Instead of assistance, I was met with confused looks, as if I had no business being there. I wasn’t the only one lost–another mother and her two daughters were also completely unsure of where to go.

When I was finally directed to the appropriate area for the ninja class, I walked my son over and was told that the two instructors would bring him back to me at the end. They told me to go check in with the front desk person, who I had not seen when coming in. When I did go to the front desk a young woman was on her phone and had no idea why I was talking to her. She said just sign in you don’t have to tell me. Ok well I was told to come talk to you, was my response. It’s starting to be clear at this point that if you don’t know what’s going on, for example if you are new, you have to figure It out by yourself.

So, at 55 past the hour, my four-year-old walked out alone while I sat in the waiting area. I had been watching the designated screen, which was supposed to allow us to view our children during class, but I only saw my son once before the feed was just a picture of gym equipment. You could not see any ninjas in the screen so I have no idea what if anything they were doing.

I waited for about five minutes, expecting one of the instructors to come out and at least confirm class had ended, but no one ever did. We left, and about 15 minutes into our drive home to Englewood, I received a call from the studio asking if I had my son–meaning no one even realized he had left.

At the most basic level, a facility working with young children needs to prioritize their safety. This experience showed a lack of organization, communication, and awareness that I simply cannot overlook. Because of this, we will not be returning.

I hope you take this feedback seriously, as these issues could have serious consequences if not addressed.
