Some rec centers have pools with pirate ships, water slides or rock walls and ice rinks. Carmody rec center has no such frills, and that is exactly why I love it.
Don’t get me wrong, kids are awesome, and I’m so glad there are community spaces where they can play, learn and stay out of trouble. However, most of the time I just want to jump in a pool and do some laps without having to worry about dodging rogue pool toys and worrying about little kids slipping on wet cement.
They just remolded this rec center and it’s great. They have a huge indoor pool as well as a smaller outdoor pool and a kiddy pool outside.
Their workout center is sparse, but all the equipment is new and in good condition. I’ve yet to check out any of their exercise classes but they seem to offer many.
This place is great for swimming laps or practicing diving, they have a ton of open swim and open lap times. The last time I went (admittedly it was the middle of the day), I was the only person in the giant pool.
If you want at great place to get your rec on, but don’t need to hang out in a fun house, check out Carmody pool and rec center.
I have to say this is the nicest Rec Center I’ve ever been at. Everything works unlike other places, people are nice, and kids are not running around like banshees. No huge frills or people acting like you shouldn’t be their because you’f not a super hard body, why I quit going to 24 Hour Fitness.
Wonderful recreation center and playground for families. Lots of fun outdoor equipment on the children’s playground. Use the pool, enjoy yourselves, be silly at a great family park!
We just visited the park for the first time and we love it. I have a two year old and there was so much for him to do. A lot of times at parks, they aren’t toddler appropriate and he doesn’t get as much play time. It’s spacious, clean and fun. They also have a musical area which is always fun for kids. Some parts can get hot as there isn’t a ton of shade, but bring an old towel and water and you’re set. We will definitely be going back.
There’s nothing wrong with this facility. It’s actually quite nice.
There is however, a reason for this one star review. It has to do with the staff. My family frequents this recreation center. They’ve had issues with lifeguards not doing their jobs. But, that’s not the reason for the poor review. There’s one employee in particular, who makes this place exceptionally uncomfortable. A horrible, nasty, bitter woman who works behind the front desk. She is rude, foul, and above all else, extremely condescending. The tone she’s taken with multiple people is inexcusable. How or why, she still has a job here is mind boggling. The district would be doing the community a favor by removing her from her position.
