First visit to this place. Visited with my three kids ages 8,10,12. My mother and my grandmother. We all enjoyed it. It wasn’t busy at all on a Friday after lunch. We parked on the street in the shade.
Prices were $6-7 depending on age. My mom ended up buying a family annual pass which proved to be a lengthy process. (Fill out form on their laptop, which sent an email to your phone which you had to pay via your phone online). Crazy.
We had lots of fun. Some displays were in disrepair and some were broken. It’s a lot of very random science-y toys and experiments.
Happy to have a place like this in GJ and I would recommend it. There is a gift shop there too.
There are a lot of hands on learning tools for kids, but I feel like it’s overpriced. A lot of the activities were broken or “under construction.” Maybe charge a dollar more per kid and let the parents in for free?
My girls LOVE this place. No matter how many times we go there they’re always excited. My oldest can’t wait for no school days because she gets to go to “science camp”. Highly recommended.
My boys enjoyed the museum. A few items were not working however fairly priced for all the activities.
This place is NOT safe! My daughter attended summer camps there. During camp she was tackled and choked by another kid over a toy that she was trying to find the owner for. About a month later a kid with developmental disabilities punch my kid in the neck. All 3 directors (Austin, Christian, and Jenn) stated that both incidents were a wrong place, wrong time scenario, and at no fault of my daughters. Both incidents happened during recess. We gave Eureka every opportunity to correct the issues, but they refuse to take responsibility. During our meeting with the directors they even tried to play like they were the victims. When in all actuality my daughter is. We have pulled our daughter from there camps. If you have any questions or would like to know more details please feel free to ask. I would not recommend this place for child care!
We were visiting Grand Junction over the weekend, and I stopped in with my two kids (4 and 2) to check it out. We all loved it! Everything was hands-on and accessible for little kids (they loved the water activities), and the staff was so, so friendly. Will definitely be back the next time we are in Grand Junction!
Austin put us through a week long rigamarole of red tape and didn’t tell us that they don’t accept non-medical vaccine exemptions until after days of struggle with filling out forms in ONLY one format (He wouldn’t accept other formats). He let us rack our brains filling out non-downloadable forms to get the correct format he wanted and then declined us at the last moment, even though we had paid and secured three summer camp weeks at Eureka for our child. We’ve asked the museum for a response about why this happened. The director only responded with, “If you’d like to file an official complaint let us know”. We would prefer a personal phone call and an apology, not more red tape that will not ever be accepted or looked at once you learn we don’t vaccinate and are gay parents!
We had a fun mommy and son day at the Eureka Science Center. So much in fact that this trip was followed by a lot of crying because we had to leave. My son played with other kids, lifted weights, flew a spaceship, made bubbles, built things, put a human body back together, and so much more. Kids under 4 are free, and adults are just $8. This place is a little gem for kids of all ages.
Love taking grandkids here, they have interesting, interactive experiences for all ages. They also have a convenient yearly membership. Grownups will learn something new too
