Today was the first day I had been here in awhile. It has always been in good condition and kept very clean, well maintained and so on. I was pleased to see that’s still the case.

I took my kids swimming with some friends and they all had a blast. It was a bit crowded but everyone was very polite and respectful towards one another.

I was also surprised to see that they had updated the children’s play area with a nice little set up that has water spraying around and two child sized slides. They used to only have one small children’s slide, so that was a pleasant surprise.

There are plenty of lifeguards around and all of the staff, including those at the front desk, are extremely polite and helpful.

    Can’t wait to go back!

The reason for 4 stars is that I have rarely seen the locker room clean. The locker rooms are nasty!!! It would be nice if they had someone check them during the day. Or deep clean them once a week. The fort lupton rec center locker room is spotless.

Swim lessons are very reasonably priced but you get what you pay for. The teachers are very friendly and nice. The problem is they should have a baby class up to one and another class for the older toddlers. Lesson plans would be a great idea. We have taken classes from Brighton and ft lupton and man there is no comparison. The teachers in ft Luton plan a lesson. Every time they work on something new catering to the children in the class. They just need a little more creativity with the kids.

The rec center staff is wonderful!!!! They are very kind and compassionate. One time the spin class was full and the lady actually went to the basement to get me another bike. Wow! Also, the managers of the Rec center are AMazing!

The daycare staff are really good with children. It’s very affordable and easy to use. My son loves it. They come get you if anything happens with your child (diaper change needed or kid is crying a lot)

Overall really happy with the rec center. Great place to go to workout or swim!

While the youth sports are awesome here, the Rec center mainly aquatic center has a LOT to be desired. First off the lifeguards are mainly under 18, which can be expected at a city run rec center, but… some of them are bluntly rude to children. Also they seem to know LITTLE about the rules and regulations and if they don’t know instead o asking a manager they simply make up what they fell or think is best.

Example, my son recently was going to go down the slide and wears a life jacket, the kind that zip from the rear which are approved in all 50 states for water and Life Saving. My son was half way up with me 2 steps behind and an extremely rude lifeguard yelled out hey you need to come back down and she empathized NOW in a rude and obtrusive tone at my 5 year old, started to make him cry. When I asked why she did this her reply was ” Cause it says no life jackets” … so i spoke with the on duty so called pool manager and she said it was because the zipper could ruin the water slide, lol.

So I went home, did research and found out I believe ( might be another MFG ) the water slide used by the contractor was made from a company called Banzi water slides, called them up and they laughed when I asked if a zipper could damage the slide.

So I had to call and speak to the main manger who issued me a full refund mind you, but seemed extremely unapologetic, and that he could care less as if this was annoying to him rather than reply like I would think a person in charge of teen and young children facility would.

The GYM is decent for a city run rec center, has a a small 2nd floor track, but the lockers have a lot to be desired on cleanliness, they are dirty. Each time I went into the family locker is was very unkempt.

The pool is-closed during prime time for swim lesson, so make sure you go before 3:30 and after 6:15 or you cant swim, even tho the childrens water area is NOT used, they still kick you out.

SO I would NOT recommend anyone get an annual pass, or season pass here, it honestly give you NO discounts to the sports and the pool if you have children is rarely accessible unless you PAY for swim lessons.

Overall your better getting a punch pass as I will doing, or going to the FT Lupton / Thornton / North Glenn or Paul dera rec center. If your want an 100% experience and w/ aquatics.

I am disgusted with the lack of rules, regulations and policies that are not put in place nor followed during the swimming lessons. I took my 2.5 year old daughter there for a swim lesson (the class was to build trust between student and teacher, and not for kids that could swim nor had prior swimming experience). 10 mins into the class the 17 year old teacher decided she should chat with a teacher in the other class and turn her back on the kids. My daughter stepped off of the step in the water and went under. I yelled for them to get her as ran to the pool but the teacher had no clue. The life guard also under 18 ran to where my daughter was and reached his flotation device out to her while he stood on the side of the pool. (She is 2.5 years old and fully under water she had no clue what he was doing). I had to jump into the water and pull my daughter out because the 2 watching the children had no clue nor had no clue how to properly respond. Come to find out the class was over ratio and should have had a second teacher in the water, the kids did not know how to swim and we’re in and portion of the pool the we’re u and be to touch (3 ft deep). This just seems careless and neglegent . I would stay far away from this facility and their services as they are still working out the kinks at the expense of our children.. Thank god my child was safe because I knew how to respond..

Today is 6/26/2017 at 3:45 pm I called to see about the swimming schedule , I was told that the pool will be closed from 4 pm to 6 pm . So my family and I showed up at 5:45 pm to swim for a couple hrs. Well 6 pm rolled around and we was told that we had to wait till 6:15 pm , so we did that , then we was told we needed to wait till 6:30 pm now I’m getting upset. Then we are told that we need to wait till 7:20 pm at this point I went to speak to the manager about getting a refund of my money. I was directed to the manager named Charles who told me they don;t give money back. I expressed that we did not get what we paid for he said this didn’t matter. I told Charles that I will be reversing the charges tomorrow at the bank and he stared at me if he could care less and his main objective was to give me a hard time . A co-worker approached me and apologized to me and said that she total disagree’s with how I was treated . This was the first time ever coming to Brighton Recreation center and the last time ,from hear on out we will stick with Westminster Rec.

This is my gym. I lift, play basketball, use racquetball courts, daycare, swim, sports and sauna. This is the best sauna I’ve been to. It gets so hott. My personnel record is 30 minutes for one session. The biggest con is the locker room condition is usually trashed by 6pm. They need a refresher cleaning around 12. Best gym closet to me.

Egg dash 2018 the lady announcing was very rude had the children sit on the orange line for 45 minuets. We will be attending Arvada forever they know what they’re doing can organize a large crowd and are friendly.

This is definitely a mommy and daddy gym. Then second it is a high school middle schooler gym. There aren’t too many people who are serious about working out in here. Lots of people just lounging and talking. Super small free weight area. Then upstairs there are cardio machines aside from that there really isn’t too much to it. The place excels in the wet area. Super large pool for swimming, and a big kiddie pool. The hot tub is separate where you will find countless old men staring at all the girls in their swimsuits. Their perverted eyes looking up and down, shamelessly. They also have a sauna and steam room. Decent place for a workout if its your last resort.

Compared to the red center in Fredrick this one is kinda sad as far as pool goes ,the water in the kid area especially is so cold my kids always have blue lips after being in for like 1/2 hr or so and there’s always huge kids running around in the little kid area so that’s frustrating there’s really no order in there all in all it’s an ok place to go the nice things are the locker rooms are clean when you go and they are nicely sized and the building itself is always clean and there’s friendly front desk staff wash time

I had the opportunity to take Aliyah’s and Amy’s Dance Jam class on a Wednesday and Thursday night at 630pm. Drop in fee was $3.50 for my daughter and $5.50 for me. I was visiting their classes because I’m from Texas and my sister invited me to go with her one night and the other night I went with my niece and my daughter. I loved Aliyah’s and Amy’s fun work out vibes. I would definitely recommend their classes as well as return when I’m in Colorado again. I didn’t work out so my review is solely on the classes I took.

horrible place there is always swim lessons and we can never have a normal day there at all we can never have fun ever so i’m never coming back ever

The pool at Ft. Lupton is so much better. The life guards take pride in letting kids have a good, safe experience, and the pool design is safe and relaxing. Brighton rec doesn’t seem to like little kids in their pool and makes their swim time as miserable as possible. Don’t waste your money here.

BE CAREFUL- The staff at this pool is not SAFE! So I have been coming here for years and I have not had any issues until recently.

So a few weeks ago I took my 6 year old, swimming at the Disney Resorts in Orlando, and I helped save a 2 year old from drowning, my son wore a life vest and was safe, the 2 year old, estranged toddler did not and drowned in the pool and had to be revived by means of CPR, and I learned quite a bit from that ordeal, but that is in a different review!
From the Disney experience, I learned just how important a child’s life vest can be and not taken for granted! So instead of borrowing the life vests that are provided by whatever pool I would visit, I decided to be proactive, I purchased a regulation, certified, type 3 coast guard child’s life vest. (See photos, the difference between type 2 and 3).

We went in to the pool and I was approached by the life guard who asked me if the jacket my son was wearing belonged to him or the pool? I told him that the life jacket that my son was wearing, belonged to him, it was a coast guard certified life jacket? He told me that I couldn’t use my own safety equipment that I had to use, the life vests that are provided by the pool.

So I clarified with the life guard by asking, “Let me get this straight, you want me to down grade from a type 3, brand new, personalized life jacket, to a type 2, used life vest? Not to mention that half the buckles on most of these vests are broken!”

He replied, “Thats ok you can still, tie it off at the top! If your son knew how to swim, you would not need one and it wouldn’t be an issue, the rules are safety equipment must be provided by the pool, you know liability issues.”

“Well my son knows how to swim, but he can get tired from time to time, the vest gives him added safety and encouragement in the water. I know how to swim myself, but I still wear a vest when I go boating. As for liability issues, if something happens, your going to make me a rich man! Oh, one more thing, I noticed that your swimsuit is different then mine, can you get me swimsuit that is provided by your pool?” I sarcastically replied.

“Sir, now you’re being sarcastic, I am just doing my job!” He replied.

On 06/08/2019, I returned to the Brighton Rec. Center. My 6 year old wanted to go down the water slide, so I fitted him with a semi broken life vest, provided by the pool. With this vest he found the confidence to go down the water slide all by him self. He went down 4 times, before I was approached by the lifeguard supervisor, this is what he said to me, “Sir, when your son is wearing a life vest, you need to go down the slide with him.”

“Really, is it because you think that vest in someway might snag on the ride?” I asked.

Then the supervisor replied, “No it’s because, he can’t swim. Now he can go down the ride by himself without a vest. Provide he knows how to swim.”

So I rebutted with this, ” Really do you know how stupid and illogical you sound? My son knows how to swim, and you are making the assumption that he cannot, because we are being just a little more cautious, wearing the safety vest that your establishment provides? Half of the vests have broken snaps on them. Do you know how many people are injured with concussions and drown from the under tow, because of collisions, from multiple rider on water slides? You should read the statistics! You should never discourage the use of safety vest, especially around a water slides, wether the person can swim or not!”

Then the supervisor said, ” This is a rule that comes from a higher source than, me and I’m just doing what I’m told!”

“Really, well your boss is a moron and what you practice makes no sense!” I rudely implied!

In conclusion, I would like to point out, according to a report by the Associated Press, the Red Cross cites estimations by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, which revealed that more than 4,200 people are taken to the emergency room a year from a water park-related injury.

As for injuries caused by water slides specifically, a 2014 report by NJ.com, evaluated data from the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs, revealing that waterslides posed a larger threat for injuries than rollercoasters. According to the State Department’s findings, out of 552 reported amusement ride accidents spanning over five years, 122 were waterslide-related. The NJ.com report also indicated that out of the 552 injuries reported of the 122, 0 wore life vests. Tammori Petty, a spokesperson for the State Department said. “Water flow is still not an exact science and unpredictable things can happen. Everything, that I have read about buoyancy technology and safety of your children is in courage by life saving professionals, however, Brighton Rec Center, is encouraging parents to not be safe! That is why this place is dangerous! Because I don’t believe the administration here is competent! Take you kids to a safer place!

Don’t waste your time or money. The staff is rude and they don’t know how to do their job! I signed up my daughter for their basketball program and paid $75 in full at registration. They didn’t put my contact info in the computer so the coach never called to let me know the schedule. When I called Amanda (the sports coordinator) she informed me that they had already been playing for a week. When I asked if I could be refunded for the one week since their front desk person (KJohnson) failed to put my info in, Amanda informed me that she could un-enroll my child, who was so excited to play basketball(so much for being all about children), and give me a full refund! I was flabbergasted! So she would rather lose $75 instead of $15, not very good business sense! I will gladly take my $ elsewhere! If I could give zero stars I would!

My family and I have been going to the Brighton Rec Center for over 6yrs, and we love it! I enjoy the exercise classes, the safe practices in the childcare, the friendly staff, the fact that kids can go down the slide in the pool, and so much more. My kids have always enjoyed going to the playground at Brighton Park right after our time at the Rec Center.

  • Eve F.

I only went swimming there so haven’t seen all of the center but I did see the swimming area and locker rooms. The locker rooms were pretty typical they did have a free swimsuit/towel dryer (not just a hand dryer) which was awesome I hadn’t ever seen that! The ground in the locker room was very dirty and so were the bathroom stalls but I wasn’t too shocked. The slide was closed when we went but the pool was good, Was lots of fun we went when it wasn’t super busy but there was enough from to play games and swim freely. There were floating boards (kinda like a boogie board but not?) which we were allowed to use and the lifeguard working was very kind & fun, Made a few jokes and chatted a bit. Overall pretty average rec center pool, The little kiddie water playground was also very good. Right across the parking lot there is a larger park to hang out at after swimming!
